Everyone Is Entitled To My Opinion

Item #1
You've probably heard or read the following words - radical, brilliant, Scalito, misogynist, conservative, fair - used to describe Supreme Court nominee Samuel A. Alito Jr.
of the Philadelphia-based U.S. Court of Appeals.

One term you most likely haven't encountered as you've traversed the various opinions formed about the possible successor to Sandra Day O'Conner is nerd.

Yes, Alito is a flat-out, born and bred nerd. But he's not a nerd for the reasons you may be assuming at this moment - because he's a bookworm,
a former high school band geek, a goody two shoes, four-eyed Poindexter. And it's not because he's a baseball nut and life-long Phillies fan (In his Newark chambers hangs a life-size poster of Mike Schmidt).
No, it's because he took that fanaticism, shelled out a few thousand dollars and flew down to Florida to participate in a Phillies Phantasy Camp.

You know the camp and you know the kind. It's where men who never were jocks and lived vicariously through them, but grew up to make gobs of money as a successful - say, judge - get to face off against their heroes of yesteryear. For only $3,450 (not included airline ticket) you, too, can stare down pitcher Mitch Williams' 75 m.p.h. fastball (It's good to know he still has the same heat he had in the 1993 World Series) or you can chug beers and eat wings with the "Bull," Greg Luzinski. Here's the website in case you're a dork ... we mean, interested.

Picture that, a future Supreme Court justice shagging flyballs with the "Sarge," Gary Matthews. Hey, it's a lot better than picturing him denying women their reproductive rights.

Item #2
Some would say the less said about Terrell Owens, the better. And we are some of those people ... most of the time. But the saga of T.O.
continues to take new twists and turns as evidenced by what happened today at the NovaCare Complex. Read it here.

Owens made a miraculous return for Super Bowl XXXIX from the surgery he had on the same ankle he sprained Sunday against Denver. So it was no surprise when he suited up and hit the field today for practice one day after being listed probable and after he told ESPN he wasn't going to "rush" his return. But it's the inconsistency of his actions and words that drive fans batty and gives fodder for pundits.

There hasn't been an athlete in this city that has put a team's followers through the ringer or on the emotional roller coaster as much as T.O. since ... never. Birds fans never know what to think when it comes to "Eagle Ego." Is T.O. going to sit out this season? He did not. Is he going to sabotage the team? So far, so good. Is he going to force a trade? Not this year at least. Is he going to talk to Donovan McNabb? He did. Is he going play this Sunday against Washington? It sure looks that way. Talk about the boy who cried wolf.

Speaking of animals, T.O. may be as healthy as a horse and ready to play Sunday,
but it's his behavior and not his physicality that often makes us think of a certain part of a horse's anatomy.

Item #3
Bobby Abreu won his first gold glove award yesterday. This just in ... Ed Wade has been named general manager of the Boston Red Sox.

Item #4
From the files of "We're not making this up," former NHL coach Jacques Demers admitted in a new biography that he's illiterate. That's a shame, because we heard his biography is a pretty good yarn. Too bad he can't read it.

Great if you can pop over to my site some day http://www.cheap-flights.ebizempires.com
